Chrysler to unveil Dodge Dart GT at Detroit auto show
Chrysler Group LLC will unveil a new version of the Dodge Dart at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week, one with more horsepower.
The 2013 Dart GT will feature a 184-horsepower 2.4-liter Tigershark engine mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed PowerTech automatic transmission, a sport-tuned suspension with frequency sensing dampening shocks and a host of premium touches inside and out, including perforated Nappa leather seats and 18-inch aluminum wheels for a starting MSRP of $20,995.
"The new Dart GT embodies the best attributes that compact car buyers are looking for, including outstanding style, performance, technology and value," said Dodge President Reid Bigland.
The new version of the Dart will also feature some unique styling touches like an integrated dual exhaust and LED tail lamps.
It will join a lineup that already includes the Dart SE, SXT, Rallye, Aero and Limited models.
Chrysler said, "Dodge continues to investigate a high-performance R/T model."
The GT features unique performance-enhancing front fascia with black accents and a Hyper Black grille; black projector headlamp bezels; body-color door handles; class-exclusive heated steering wheel; heated front seats; dual-zone automatic temperature control; a universal garage door opener and GT badge.
Like the other versions of the Dart, the GT will be built at Chrysler's Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois. Production is slated to begin in the second quarter of the year.
